Inaugration of Sir M. Visveswaraya Block, REVA University By MRRD Minister

On the 28th October, 2017 REVA University witnessed the successful inauguration of the Academic Block - Sir M. Visvesvaraya Block, by Shri. Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India which was then followed by a state programme in the Kuvempu Auditorium. The chief guests were ushered into the auditorium where they took their seats on the stage. After a beautiful rendition of the Invocation song and the REVA Anthem, the Vice - Chancellor Dr.S.Y.Kulkarni of REVA University welcomed the honorable guests - Shri. Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Shri. D V Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India and Shri. Aravind Limbavali, MLA & Former Minister, Government of Karnataka. After the ceremonial lamp – lighting, Shri. D V Sadananda Gowda was felicitated by the Chancellor of REVA University, Dr. P. Shyama Raju. He then proceeded to praise REVA University for the Eco – friendly campus and ideal academic environment. The theme for the year 2017-2018 – Digital REVA - was declared open.

He proceeded to talk about the importance of technology stating along the way “Technology is a part of life and is used in day to day affairs.” Following this a presentation on the framework of Digital REVA consisting of Cloud based server that supports various facilities like web- portal, sms, e-mail, smartcard etc. to name a few, was displayed. Some of the highlights were the implementation of high – speed network, ERP system, LMS platform and Paperless transactions.

Shri. Aravind Limbavali, MLA & Former Minister, Government of Karnataka was then felicitated, after which he went on to launch the REVA Online Courses and REVA Tube. Some of the features included are MOOC partnered by SWAYAM as well as NPTEL HARVARD and CARNAGE MELON courses.

This was followed by the felicitation of the Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Shri. Prakash Javadekar. The much awaited moment saw its fulfilment in the speech by the minister in which he constantly stressed on the quality of education especially in institutions of higher education. According to him, “Today the focus is on skill – development and placement.” He implored the need to keep a watch for quality and in this context stated, “Good will flourish and bad will perish.” He informed the audience about the NIRF (National Institute Ranking Framework) and NAAC accreditation that would ensure the continuation of quality check in higher education. He emphasized that innovation was the need of the hour and applauded REVA University for taking several initiatives in this regard. He encouraged the University to continue its good efforts and even mentioned that it was high time the, “New generation should innovate and create ownership.” He also called forth REVA University’s involvement in increasing the GER (Gross Enrolment Ratio) and in the process contributing to the nation’s growth in being counted as one of the most developed countries in the world. He acknowledged REVA University’s support in several government schemes such as Uchchatar Avishkar Yojana, Imprint, Smart India HACKATHON, National Academic Repository, GYAN, Digital Literacy Campaign, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.

The programme ended with Presidential Address of the Honorable Chancellor of REVA University Dr. P. Shyam Raju, where he educated the gathering on achievement of REVA University with regard to the factors enumerated by the minister. The programme ended with the promise of fulfilling all the parameters and being recognized as a world class institution that is the epitome of research and innovation.
