A Technical talk on “Accelerated Computing using FPGA's”

The School of ECE had organized a technical talk “Accelerated Computing using FPGA's” on Tuesday, 10th October, 2017 between 2.00 PM to 4 PM at School Seminar hall(Room No:213)for B. Tech V Semester‘D’ section students and M.Tech (I and III semester) students. Professor Amlan Chakrabarti, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Director of the A.K. Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta was the resource person. He started the session with an introduction to FPGA followed by concurrent hardware task processing and crypto acceleration.

 

Talk focused on the following key points:

1. Introduction to FPGAs.

2. EDA for FPGAs.

3. Functional Parallelism using FPGA logic.

4. Motivating Examples involving DSP and Machine Learning Algorithms.

Students felt the session was very informative. The session was interactive and students expressed their desire to have more sessions by the resource person.
