Mr. Shabeer Ali, Manager, Northern Trust; Mr. Bhanutej C, Associate Manager-Human Resources, Novo Nordisk Services Private India Limited; and Mr. Raj Kumar Maskalle, Assistant Manager- Talent Acquisition, Myntra were the speakers of the day

Mr. Shabeer Ali, having passed out from REVA with a specialization in Finance, has been exceptionally good throughout his stay in REVA. He is being associated with Northern Trust and has worked in different domains in the field of Finance. Shabber began his career as an analyst in client valuation reporting and now is working in the capacity of Section Manager for NA Accounting Team. He oversees a team of 50 professionals in Bangalore division. With his exceptional contribution to the organisation, he has won several awards and accolades.

Mr. Raj Kumar Maskalle, having passed out from REVA with a specialization in Marketing, has been his creative best through his student days. Presently working with Myntra as Assistant Manager, Talent Acquisition, he has garnered varied experience in his tenure of about 7 years. He started his career with Career Net where he handled recruitment process, profile screening, sourcing, to name a few. Presently working for Myntra, he works on varied HR operations related to recruitment.

Mr. Bhanutej C, having passed out from REVA with a specialization in HR has always been passionate towards people management. Presently working with Novo Nordisk as Associate Manager – Human Resources, is into training the employees in varied fields. Being passionate towards people management, has successfully guided and trained employees in delivering their best at work.

The session was organized for the third semester MBA students. The session on “Being Industry Ready”, was designed to give the inputs for the students related to the preparedness that they are supposed to equip themselves with for being placed in the reputed organisation

The students were divided into different groups based on their specialization and the alumni addressed them on various aspects related to being industry ready. The students were advised by the alumni to be informed about the developments which are happening in their chosen areas. They were told to be updated with the latest events and latest technology developments which enable them to prepare themselves well in advance. The students were advised by their seniors to prepare themselves with various basic skill sets like Excel, familiarity with outlook and other such things which gives them a upper hand when compared to others. Mr. Raj stressed upon the students that they be keen observers and innovative and creative in their approach which gives them an advantage over everybody else. Mr. Bhanu stressed that the students be dedicated and sincere and honest in their approach. While Mr. Ali suggested that the students to be curious towards the changes dynamic business conditions.

In all the students were advised by the alumni about equipping themselves with the required skill sets like excellent communication skills, a total positive attitude, a positive approach towards life, a well groomed and a pleasant personality to name a few

The session concluded with Director, Dr. Shubha addressing the students about the importance of such programs and how the students should take key inputs from their seniors. She also thanked the alumni for their time and interest towards guiding their juniors.

Big-data analytics is the new technology that is evolving across the globe. IT organizations are moving towards the concept of seamless computing, and real-time processing of data with high degree of resource scalability. Data Analytics and Big Data has become one of the main functional areas in most companies. Today, there is an increased demand for professionals with awareness of Analytics. Many universities across the country have introduced Business Analytics as a subject in UG & PG curriculum especially in management and engineering disciplines. In this workshop introduction to academic community that includes “case studies” based on Indian companies where various Business Analytics tools and techniques have been used for fact-based decision making. The Workshop also provided a platform for faculty members and research scholars to interact and share their understanding of analytics domain.

Mr. KHM Vikram, Technical Lead – Systems, Accord Global Technologies Solution Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore(Alumni of REVA University) was the Resource Person.

Talk focused on the following key points:

2. How GNSS works.
3. Relevance of Kepler’s law.

The School of ECE had organized a technical talk “Smart Cities & Future Scope " on 16th October, 2018 between 9.30 AM to 10.30 AM in Room No: 100 for B. Tech first semester students. Mr. Manoj Kumar, BEL, Bangalore (Alumni of REVA ITM) was the Resource Person.

Talk focused on the following key points:
1. Work on Smart cities and datacenter’s.
2. Upcoming technologies and how to cope up with them.
3. Difference between college study and the industry work and how to match their study accordingly.
4. Difference between IT, Public and Government sector jobs.
5. Learning related to programming, hardware components and other elements of industry.
6. How to be ready with the skill set while being in college. .

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp conducted by UIIC

Title: Report on Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp conducted by UIIC

School : University Industry Interaction Center (UIIC) and C&IT

Date :11th to 13th October 2018

Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell of UIIC, REVA University successfully organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp-1 from 11th to 13th Oct 2018 along with School of C&IT. The programme was funded by National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), under DST-NIMAT project of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India supported by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII).

The camp was formally inaugurated by our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. S.Y Kulkarni, REVA University on 11th August 2018. Resource Persons Ms. Srividya Puppala, Co-Founder & CEO of Ensconce Business Process Pvt Ltd and Mr. Girish Batra, Founder Glocal Projects and author of book “Experiments in Leadership” were welcomed by Prof. Archana on behalf of REVA family. Dr. S.S Manvi, Director School of C&IT was present during the Inaugural function. Mr. Praveen H.J, Assistant Manager, UIIC introduced the guests to the participants.

The main objective of this Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) is to create awareness among students of Engineering and Science courses about various facets of entrepreneurship as an alternative career option. The idea of organizing this workshop is to inculcate the fundamentals, key concepts of Entrepreneurship in the Science and Technology among students. The Three day camp concluded with a valedictory session and a humble vote of thanks.

Totally 120 students from School of C & IT participated in this event.

The main attractions of the camp were as follows:

  • Successful Entrepreneurs were invited for expert lecture.
  • Practicing entrepreneur's success stories - common problems faced by entrepreneurs was discussed.
  • Grant, funding and loaning from banks, agencies was discussed.
  • Improving communication skills (interacting with people) for better results was discussed.

Approximately about 100 students from School of C&IT successfully participated in the camp and each participant will be awarded a certificate. The camp was successfully coordinated by Mr. Praveen H.J, Assistant Manager, UIIC under the leadership and direction of Dr. Kiran Kumari Patil, Director, UIIC. IEDC Coordinators Dr. Ashwin kumar U M, Prof.Nikhil S Tengli, Prof. Ravishankar H, Prof. Raghavendra Nayaka, Prof. Lithin Kumble and UIIC team also contributed towards conducting the event successfully.

Day 1: 11th Oct 2018
Session 1:
The speaker of first session Ms. Srividya Puppala shared her entrepreneurship journey and emphasized the Importance of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The speaker talked about entrepreneurship basics and entrepreneurial traits. She spoke about her startup and challenges she faced as women entrepreneur.
Session 2:
Mr. Girish Batra, Entrepreneur, and Author of book “Experiments in Leadership” addressed the participants on topic “Creativity in Entrepreneurship”. The session was interactive and had fun learning concepts to make participants understand the importance of creativity and innovation. The students were shared examples of creative ideas and innovative products by startups.
Session 3:
Mr. Ramesh Kumar, CTO Eduquity addressed the students and spoke about available opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. He shared his journey from Central Govt Employee to CTO of Eduquity. How sustainability plays a vital role in success of any Startup. The speaker used brainstorming method to make students to involve well in the camp.
Session 4:
Mr. Hitesh Devara, Co-Founder & CEO of Criador Labs Pvt Ltd addressed the participants. He spoke about how difficult it was for him to start his entrepreneurship journey. He stressed on leveraging on the opportunity identified and converting that into business model. He explained about the innovative projects being developed by his company. He also asked students to apply for internship projects in Startups rather than bigger companies. So that they can develop skills required.


Day 2: 12th Oct 2018
Session 1 and 2
Mr. Praveen H J, Assistant Manager, UIIC addressed the participants on Identifying and defining the problem. He taught the participants about 5 why method and fish bone diagram (Cause & Effect) method to identify and define the problem.
Session 3:
Mr. Priyadarshi, Founder Knowlexon addressed the participants & shared his entrepreneurial journey. He spoke about how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are going to change the world in future. He also stressed students to equip skills in above domains along with IOT.


Day 3: 13th Oct 2018
Session 1 and 2 – Ideation Camp:
Mr. Praveen H J, Assistant Manager, UIIC took session on Business Model Canvas. The participants were divided into teams and were asked to propose a Business Idea that solves a problem. The students had buddy sessions and validated their business ideas with their buddy teams. The speaker explained them about 9 main building blocks of business model and he also showed video about how to pitch the business idea.
The camp ended with QA session and followed by Feedback session.

On 12th October
Mr. Sanjay, Managing Partner of Apple Safety Glasses addressed the participants &shared his entrepreneurial journey. He spoke about the technical challenges that are existing in his domain and how as a team they are working to overcome those challenges. He said that the facilities created at REVA are Top Class and students must come out with innovative products rather than just a B.E Degree. He gave brief details about his company and its products.
