In college, students grapple with lectures, exams, assignments, and their social life. Between so much of academic pressure, they usually don’t find time to maintain their health and wellness until they fall sick. However, eating right and exercising on time can certainly pay off. With most Universities encouraging students to indulge in physical activities and follow a healthy diet, it is easy to stay fit and active. Include fiber in your diet

Include as much fiber as you can in your diet. Found in vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, fiber can regulate your glucose and good cholesterol levels while helping you with digestion. Adding oatmeal to your breakfast can provide you with enough fiber in your diet. Avoid consuming processed food and baked items as they contain nothing nutritious but sugar and white flour.

Do not skip breakfast

As rightly said, a healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so you should never skip it. Whether you are waking up at noon or heading to an evening class, start your day off right with a healthy, balanced diet. Stock your room with healthy snacks, fruits, and nuts and avoid munching unhealthy snacks when you wake up hungry. Manage your portion size

Even if you are eating healthy, you should control your portion size. Keeping a track of how much you are eating can help you learn proper portion size. Ideally, your meal should include ¼ of protein, ¼ of vegetables, and ¼ of grains. Eat slowly so that you don’t feel full immediately. It is also recommended to pick a smaller plate for every me also that it appears full with a smaller portion of food.

Cut down on sugar

Sugary products such as doughnuts, ice cream, cookies, candy, or soda add unwanted weight, while leaving a detrimental effect on your health. Avoid packaged foods and caffeinated drinks as it can cause tooth decay and affect your cholesterol level. If you are craving soda, drink water or unsweetened fresh fruit juice. Replace candy with a fresh fruit or dry fruits.

Drink water

Always carry a water bottle with you to keep yourself hydrated. Drinking right amount of water can make you feel active throughout the day. Drink a glass of water before every meal to keep you from overeating. Keeping yourself hydrated can help enhance your concentration level. Do not replace water with fizzy and caffeinated drinks which are high in sugar.
