Many Milestones in Months Apart

Many Milestones in Months Apart

There have been several momentous, epoch-making events at REVA University in the last few months, and I am happy to share them with you all.

To begin with, this academic year, REVA University announced a 100% fee waiver to students who lost breadwinners to COVID-19. As per the data provided by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), between April 1, 2020, and June 5, 2021, more than 30,000 children have been affected by the pandemic, with 3,621 children losing both parents. More than 26,000 children lost one parent and 274 kids have been abandoned.

As the bleak times continue, at REVA, we decided to extend help to students who lost breadwinners in their immediate family and were facing difficulties. Such students, who are entering under-graduation programmes, can apply to any of the 50+ UG programmes at REVA University.

Personally, this move makes me happy because REVA was established with a mission to give back to society and I am happy to extend support to vulnerable families at this time of distress. Students entering under-graduation programmes

Further, through E-Akshara, a part of our CSR initiative Abhivriddhi, REVA will enable a free platform for students of community schools to gain in-depth knowledge in 12 different areas including technology, general knowledge, science, human rights, arts, creativity, and finance management, among others.

The University will soon launch a portal for students to access free content that will be delivered over a 15-hour session and students will also be provided with supportive material like CDs to recap and revise the content. The digital content will be accessible through the entire academic year 2021-22. We will introduce students to a competitive learning environment through MCQ (Multiple choice questions) based assessment.

Our vision is to nurture young minds with experiential and remote learning through ICT (Information & Communication Technology).

REVA prepares for the Third Wave

Among the surging fear and confusion about the third wave, I am happy to inform you that REVA University has set the precedent to tackle the challenges that may come our way during the third wave.

Apart from upgrading the facilities at REVA Health Centre including setting up more beds for quarantine, medical facilities to treat emergency cases, and vaccinated staff, the University will soon upgrade Jeeva Setu, a non-invasive, emergency ventilator that was highly helpful during the second wave when there was scarcity for ventilators.

Along with strengthening the medical infrastructure on campus, in a major move, REVA University vaccinated its students during a three-day free mega vaccination drive. We are working towards a 100% safe and secure campus and the vaccination drives for faculty and students have been a key move to achieve our goal of a 100% safe campus.

Top ranks for REVA

Amid all these initiatives, I am happy to inform you that REVA has bagged several new rankings this academic year for its academic and research excellence. The Times Engineering Institutes Ranking 2021 has identified REVA University as the top 15th engineering institution in India, while India Today has ranked REVA as the top 30th university among the Top 50 Universities in India in 2021.

I am pleased at these recognitions as they are reminders that REVA University is progressing in the right path towards its mission to be one of the top universities in India that delivers quality education on par with international universities.
