Teachers’ Day: Celebrating the Guiding Lights of Knowledge at REVA

When we think we know, we cease to learn: Dr S Radhakarishnan

Dr. S. Radhakrishnan's words take me back to my school and college days, where learning was a constant journey. My teachers were more than educators; they were mentors who broadened my understanding of subjects and life itself. I have always believed that the moment we stop learning, life loses its vibrancy. That’s why I embraced curiosity in all things, and on this Teachers’ Day, I want to stress the importance of never ceasing to learn. Whether you're a teacher, student, or anyone else, nurturing an insatiable desire for knowledge is key to a fulfilling life.

At REVA University, we have underscored the centrality of teachers in the transformative process of education. Our faculty members are not just torchbearers of knowledge; they are mentors who foster the emotional, social, cognitive, and creative development of our students. This comprehensive approach is integral to our mission of producing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

At REVA, our focus goes beyond awarding degrees; we are committed to providing the holistic growth of our students, equipping them with skills for the modern world. As educators, our greatest gift is the knowledge we impart. I am immensely proud of REVA and its alumni, who continue to excel in various fields, upholding our tradition of delivering quality education and achieving remarkable success.

In the past few years, we have made significant strides towards integrating digital technology into our teaching-learning processes. Our faculty and staff quickly adapted to new methods of teaching, evaluation, and even admissions. This agility has not only equipped our students with the skills required for the future job market but also reinforced our commitment to innovation in education.

We were also instrumental in steering education away from rote learning towards a model that prioritises critical thinking and creativity. It places equal emphasis on fundamental skills and teacher professionalism, setting the stage for an educational system that supports a self-sufficient nation and a brighter future for our students. I am confident that these reforms will pave the way for a more robust and dynamic educational landscape at REVA.

As often said, “No society can rise above the level of its teachers,” every educational institution promotes teachers who establish the standards for ethics, integrity, quality and excellence at all levels. With the ample support of our faculty members, we are alive to the latest trends in the areas of research, innovation and academics.

Learning is a never-ending process. Hence, on this Teachers’ Day, I would like to salute the entire teaching community for their passion and dedication which has a significant positive impact on the whole REVA community and the development of our country.

Happy Teachers’ Day!
