BA in Journalism and Mass Communication

B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication is a three-year undergraduate course aimed at providing holistic knowledge at theoretical as well as practical level to the students. The extensive course is designed to offer comprehensive fundamental training in ten different fields of mass communication.
Students studies about Communication Theories and Models, Public Relations, Design and Graphics, Digital Media, Reporting and Editing for Print Media, Radio Production, Data Journalism, Photo-Journalism, Event Management, and Media Law and Ethics. The program also offers choices for various elective courses like Entrepreneur Development, Business Communication, Foreign Language (French or German), Human Resource Development, Socio-cultural History of India, Organizational Behavior, Fashion Communication, and Leadership Development and Team Building.
Journalism is one of the important part of this programme. Journalism has a wider spectrum we have political, sports, film, Economic, Health journalism which is gaining much importance. After the completion of the course, the student will be industry ready to successfully merge into the existing industrial requirements. The course will open avenues for students to pursue the career in Print Media, Journalism (Print and Electronic), Radio and TV production, Films, Integrated Marketing, Event Management, Brand Management, Advertising (Print, Electronic and Digital), Social Media etc.

After three years of graduation, the graduates of B.A (Journalism and Communication) will be able to:
PEO-1 : Step into  Higher Education and take up research in Universities at national and global level.
PEO-2: Become a team member in Public, Private, Corporate and Government Sector as techno managers, academicians, administrator or entrepreneurs, investigative agencies with efficient Communication and ethics.
PEO-3: Set up own enterprise and communicate with customers proficiently and adapt life skills for enhancing Business.

  • PO 1: Disciplinary knowledge: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and in understanding Journalism and Communication study.
  • PO 2: Reasoning: Analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from evidence and experiences from an open-minded and reasoned perspective.
  • PO 3: Problem solving: Extrapolate and apply their competencies to solve different kinds of non-familiar problems and apply one’s learning to real life situations using curriculum content knowledge. 
  • PO 4: Environment and Sustainability: Understand the issues of environmental contexts and sustainable development.
  • PO 5: Research-related skills: Be inquisitive with a sense of inquiry and capability for asking relevant/appropriate questions, and articulating; Ability to recognize cause-and-effect relationships, define problems, formulate hypotheses, test hypotheses, analyze, interpret and draw conclusions from data, establish hypotheses, predict cause-and-effect relationships; ability to plan, execute and report the results of an experiment or investigation. 
  • PO 6:  Ethics: Recognize different value systems including your own, understand the moral dimensions of your decisions, and accept responsibility for them.
