REVA – CSR Introduction

At REVA University, we believe that our responsibilities stretch beyond dealing with its developmental and intellectual impact to include environmental, social and ethical reflections. The University is expected to be socially responsible in ways that are beyond its core domain of knowledge sharing and innovative research and development. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can therefore be outlined in the ways in which the University addresses the social, environmental and economic impacts of its operations and contributes towards sustainable development.

We see Corporate Social Responsibility as the voluntary actions of all our stakeholders – students, staff, faculty and their families and associates along with Non-Government Organizations (NGO), and the local community. These are the actions we as a collective take, above and beyond compliance with minimum legal requirements, to address both our own moral interests and the interests of the society at large.

The CSR Office at REVA University was established to ensure that the core principles of Corporate Social Responsibility are implanted in the University strategy and are considered in key decisions. The office will continue to ensure that our CSR initiatives are seen as the norm for University operations.

Our objectives under CSR are to:

  • Create and ensure widespread awareness of the importance of CSR within the University in terms of energy and environment, student relationships, relations with society at large, and human resource practices
  • Lead and promote CSR projects and initiatives
  • Contribute to the management of the University’s environmental, social and economic impacts and set aims, objectives and timescales to optimize them
  • Report and communicate the progress on CSR impacts that have been made and ways of managing those impacts internally and to external stakeholders
  • Precede every action with respect for others and their opinions and beliefs
  • Identify and mitigate legislative and business risk from CSR impacts
