The Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Sciences organized a five day Faculty Development program on “Emerging Innovative Paradigms in Healthcare and Life Sciences” from 17th to 23rd August, 2022. 23 faculty members from the Department of Biotechnology actively participated in the event along with research scholars. The inaugural program was followed by technical session. Dr. Ayyavu. Mahesh Director, Centre for stem cell and cancer genomics AMI BioScience, Coimbatore was the keynote speaker who gave an insightful session on Tumor Associated Macrophages- Breast Cancer Strategy for Escape, Relapse and Recurrence. Day 2 had Dr. Usha Ravindra Professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition UAS, GKVK, Bangalore who spoke on Recent trends in health foods followed by Dr. K.Ravibabu Scientist D Regional Occupational health Center, NIOH, ICMR, Bangalore, covering the topic Biomonitoring and biological effect assessment in occupational exposure settings.

Outcome:

The 5 days FDP gave insightful image of ever increasing need for computational and statistical tools and techniques to answer complex biological problems with a special focus on IPR and commercialization. This programme facilitated in bringing eminent speakers, researchers, industry professionals and participating communities to provide a platform for imparting, sharing and experimenting various innovative developments in the domain of life science and health care sector and protection of Intellectu al Property Rights.
