ALUMNI TALK : Ms. Sumedha Dahal – 3rd May 2019-11.00 AM to 12.00PM
Ms. Sumedha Dahal, pursuing Ph.D. in Mitochondrial DNA Damage and Repair at IISc, Bengaluru, alumni of RISM was invited to REVA University to interact with PG Biotechnology students. She delivered a talk on DNA repair mechanism in mitochondrial DNA and their consequences. She explained about her journey of Ph.D. and her experiences in the research. Also, she explained how to get through exams to do Ph.D. and important other career aspects in the life Science that highlighted the interaction.
She has published four research papers in reputed international journal in the same field. She also highlighted about stress management during research and emphasized interest and focus as two main important criteria to choose to pursue career in research. She also discussed about CSIR and other entrance examination. The overall interaction was good and students expressed positive opinion about the talk.
Students were highly motivated with their interaction by Sumedha and how to take in the positive side. Sumedha expressed that she was happy with these types of interactions with the faculty members and students.
