Awareness Drive by DATRI Foundation on 2nd April 2019

On 2nd April 2019, donor drive awareness campaign for stem cell donation was organized by DATRI in association with Dept. of Biotechnology. DATRI is a Non Profit Organization founded in the year 2009 with a mission to save lives of those suffering from life threatening blood disorders like Blood Cancer, Thalassemia, Aplastic Anemia etc. 

The moto of the drive was to spread the much needed awareness on Blood Cancer and other fatal blood disorders and to register potential volunteer stem cell donors who can donate their blood stem cells in the event of a match. DATRI is registered member with World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) and follows WMDA guidelines and processes. 

V. Srinivas, Donor Drive Coordinator, DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry was the resource person for the session. Post graduate students of School of Applied Sciences, Students and faculty members from all Engineering schools, Arts and Humanities, School of CSA also have participated in the drive. Session started with a welcome address and introduction of speaker to the esteemed gathering. A thorough presentation on need of stem cell donation was given in the session by V Srinivas.

Many faculty members and students registered as volunteers and gave their cheek swab sample so that in future a probable match is found, they can donate their stem cells. Total number of participants is 300 and total number of registration is 170.
It was a fruitful session as there was a social cause involved to save the lives of millions of people having blood related disorders.
