The Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Sciences organized a World Lymphoma Day flash mob on Awareness about Cancer in association with World Lymphoma day on 21st October, 2022 at Jakkur, Rangamandira. A team of 15 students from Biotechnology and Microbial technology program was involved in the flashmob along with the volunteers for displaying and explaining the pluck-cards. Prof. Shilpa BR, Deputy Director, SoAS and HoD, Biotech Department and the organisers Prof. Renuka Madhu and Dr. Manjula KR accompanied students. The flash mob was witnessed by the general public and govt school students. A crystal clear picture of various types of cancers, the precautionary and curative measures to be taken to address the issues related to cancer was meticulously conveyed through a story line in flash mob. Major emphasis was given to the lifestyle management which is found to be the root cause of the problem. The flashmob was very well received by the audience and good response was received. The ultimate objective of spreading the awareness materialized through this act. Students were made to take oath on adoption of good lifestyle practices, saying no to smoking, eating healthy food, personal hygiene etc.
The pluck-cards displayed by students were strong messages about how to take care of our heath, enhance immunity and have positive attitude and empathy for cancer patients.Overall the flash mob by students gave an impacted insight into various aspects of cancer for the audience.Cultural program was also arranged post flashmob performance.
