Objective: As a part of Building Services II, the Fourth semester B.Arch Students are introduced to building electrical services. To gain familiarity in the application of electrical services in buildings and prospective materials used.
Overview of the site visit:
The students were taken on-campus tour to REVA Substation, Powerhouse and Electrical Panel the load center of a block were electrical services are featured at the campus.
- High Voltage Transmission, Service drop connected to the Transformer and Electrical Meter.
- Branch circuits, Distribution Cables of electricity inside the campus to various blocks
- Diesel generator, UPS room, Protection systems against electrical threats to buildings understanding Earthing, Neutral and Live Wires.
- Devices like HRC Fuses (High rupturing capacity fuses), Bus Bar, MCB’s, Lightning arrestors
- Insulators, Cable Trays, Trunking, Distribution boards, Load levels and socket outlets.
Learning Outcomes:
Students shall be able to
- Develop the building level distribution services.
- Plan the whole building layout and Floor wise distribution boards.
- Interpret energy consumption of the equipment’s according to the load levels.
- Actively participate on the practical application of electrical features adapted at building and site level.
