School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences of REVA University has conducted an Expert Guest Lecture on “Understanding the Metaphor of Ethnic Nationalism of Poetics in Exile “on 20th February 2023 in the online mode. Students from Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences were the participants. They participated with great fervour and enthusiasm. The lecture gave insights enhance the linguistic phenomenon of metaphor, exploring the banal reference to the nation as a personified individual to demonstrate discursively how the elite characterise the national body in all the same ways in which individual members of the nations can be described.
The resource person was MS. Swetha Sur from Assam, Nessa Begum College. Ethnic nationalism, also known as ethnonationalism, is a form of nationalism wherein the nation and nationality are defined in terms of ethnicity, with emphasis on an ethnocentric (and in some cases an ethnocratic) approach to various political issues related to national affirmation of a particular ethnic group.
