OBJECTIVE
As part of History of Architecture -II, evolution of various architectural styles between early Christian to Renaissance and a glimpse of Baroque and Roccoco were lectured to the students. To understand the architectural features in detail the examples were elaborated. One such example for byzantine architecture is Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey. Hagia Sophia is the pioneer of Byzantine Architecture and a humongous monument which underwent transformations, originally a Greek orthodox Christian church, later an ottoman imperial Mosque and currently a preserved monument revived and conserved for it values and details as Christian architecture and the later additions of Islamic architecture. 

Ar. Neeraja jayan is a conservation Architect and a history of Architecture teacher, she is a heritage lover, who travels to experience the heritage-built environment. She presented about the current scenario, transformations of Hagia Sophia. She explained about the context and elaborated on the major features of byzantine architecture and related to the example. She has the live experience of visiting the monument, thus she was able to elucidate and relate the details completely to the students through the audio visuals captured during her visit. She explained the massing, elements and architectural style of the monument and updated on turkey architecture and the lifestyle too.   

Outcomes of the Guest Lecture:
The II Sem B.Arch. students were able to recognize the significance of the Hagia Sophia, as a byzantine architecture example and were able to relate the causes behind to transformation. They were able to understand the context and appreciate the architectural features. This lecture will certainly boost their knowledge and vision appropriate to the subject. We would like to thank the management and team at REVA University for their support and constant encouragement towards our endeavours.
