The School of Arts and Humanities organized a five-day Faculty Development Programme on “Recent Trends in English Language Teaching” from 22nd June to 26th June 2020 through the online platform, Microsoft Teams. Faculty from multifarious universities and colleges throughout India and the in-house faculty members of REVA University attended the FDP. There were around 350 participants. There were eminent speakers such as Dr. Rajasekaran V from Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai; Dr. Newlin Rajkumar from Anna University Regional Centre, Coimbatore and few others. The speakers delineated on the multi-dimensional perspectives related to the recent trends in English Language Teaching. They focused on the importance and future of English Language Teaching and suggested various strategies to make virtual learning enjoyable. They focused on the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy in the domain of evaluation and the strategic use of “Blended Approach - ELT and Soft Skills” in the domain of teaching. The FDP had questions and answers round after each session which helped the participants to clarify their doubts and engage in meaningful discussions.
