FDP Report on "Patenting in Life Science"
The School of Applied Sciences had organized Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Patenting in Life Science"on 11th May 2019 between 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm in Dr. Junjappa seminar hall, science block, REVA University.
The technical session was conducted by Mrs. Brinda K Varma, Advocate and IPR Consultant, Aekam Legal, Bangalore. Dr. JayashreeS , HOD, Department of Biochemistry welcomed madam with a bouquet.
The Technical Talk focused on the following key points:
1. Basics of IPR (Intellectual property rights)
2. Difference between IPR and patent.
3. Procedure of filing patent and monitoring.
4. Various funding agencies and their criteria of obtaining credit of patents.
5. Industry and academic institutes based patenting criteria.
6. Eligibility for patent application.
7. Information about the areas in the life sciences in which patents could be granted.
8. Commercialization of patents
Faculties from School of Applied Sciences had actively participated in the technical session and gained enough information about patenting rules and regulations and interacted with the resource person effectively.
