Event: 1st Book Club Meeting

The first Book Club meeting of the session 2020- 2021 was organised on 18.08.2020 on MS Teams platform from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The main idea behind organising the meeting was to motivate the students to inculcate the habit of reading in their lives. The focus of the meeting was also to make the students realise that they must constructively utilise this time when they are at their homes due to covid-19 pandemic. The speaker of the day was Dr. Abhisarika Prajapati, Assistant Professor, School of Arts and Humanities. More than 50 students participated in the event.
In her motivational talk, the speaker emphasised on the significance of books in one’s life and how the habit of reading, if made a part and parcel of everyday life, changes a reader’s life miraculously. The speaker made a relevant use of sayings from famous authors to drive home the point. She also shared her own experiences about reading a variety of books. Dr. Prajapati emphasised that reading has an impact on one’s personality and also improves vocabulary. She concluded her talk by giving a few easy tips to the students on how to read more efficiently. Students from graduation & post-graduation programmes participated enthusiastically and presented their views. They shared their individual preferences for the genres and highlighted how reading books has changed their lives for better. The organizer & faculty co-ordinator, Dr. Khushboo Gokani highlighted the significance of the title given to the meeting ‘Past, Present, and Books’ by explaining that books have a role to play in every moment of an individual ranging from the past to the future. The students gave a warm response to the session and exhibited interest to be a part of such sessions in the near future.
