Dept of English, SoAH&SS in association with Lakehead University, Canada organises Two Days International conference on " Global Perspectives on Gender Based Violence-Intersectionality and Interdisciplinary Space on 5th &6th Dec 2024. Kimberlé Crenshaw encapsulates “"Intersectionality is a prism for seeing the way in which various forms of inequality and discrimination can compound one another." This foundational understanding has been essential in identifying overlapping social identities which impact experiences of discrimination and violence with the burden of gender. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a pervasive global issue with deep-rooted social, cultural, and economic dimensions. Addressing GBV necessitates a comprehensive understanding that integrates intersectionality and employs interdisciplinary approaches. This conference aims to outline a framework for exploring GBV through the lenses of intersectionality and interdisciplinary perspectives, focusing on broader purview of global and local together how literature, media, and societal structures contribute to and reflect experiences of violence.
