The Department of Chemistry, School of Applied Sciences had organized a guest lecture on “Peptide Conformations” by the resource person Dr. Narendra N Ph.D, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Chemistry, Tumkur University, Tumkur on 3rd September 2019 between 11.30 am and 1.00 PM in Dr. Junjappa Seminar Hall, 1St Floor, School of Applied Sciences, REVA University.
The guest lecture was a very interactive session between the students, faculty members and the resource person. He briefed about the Challenging tasks encountered during the assignment of stereochemistry of organic compounds, Differences b/w confirmations and conformations, Stereo chemical assignment of peptide and proteins, Dr. Ramachandran plot-for predicting the structure of protein, Enantiomers and Diastereomers, and students learned about the importance of organic/medicinal/biochemical structures, techniques for assigning the stereochemistry for biomolecules, importance of protein helices in bioactivities and students explored new methods in determining the structure of proteins and understanding the applications of Dr. Ramachandran Plot. Overall the session was a fruitful and beneficial session for all the Faculty members, Research Scholars and Students of Chemistry at PG level.
