Guest Lecture on Safe Handling of Laboratory Glassware Interactive Training Programme
The Department of Chemistry, School of Applied Sciences had organized a guest lecture on "Safe Handling of Laboratory Glassware Interactive Training Programme” by the resource person Mithun Kumar, Sr. Executive – Sales, Science and Industrial Products Borosil Glass Works Limited, Chennai, on 23rd August 2019 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the Science Block.
The guest lecture was an interactive session between the students, faculty members and the resource person. He discussed the basic knowledge of glassware, technology behind glass manufacturing, safe handling practices of laboratory glassware, washing and storage practices avoiding glassware accidents and students are learned about methods involved behind glass manufacturing, cleaning glassware using a mild detergent solution, a soft brush to avoid abrasions and scratches, follow appropriate procedures to protect the glassware and to avoid the glassware accidents. Overall the session was a fruitful and beneficial session for all the Laboratory attenders, Laboratory instructors, Faculty members, Research Scholars and Students of Chemistry at PG level.
