IEEE Student Branch REVA University, in association with IEEE Bangalore Section conducted a few competitions for the occasion of Engineer’s Day on 14th September 2022, 10.30 am to 4.00 pm. The objective of the events conducted was to develop soft skills and technical of the participants. The event also intended to promote team work as well as inform participants about IEEE and its benefits. The event ‘ISOLVE’ was a IDEATHON competition based on Smart India Hackathon questions imposed by different states of government. The participants were given an option to be either a part of a team or compete individually. The competition was Based on the Innovative ideas given by the participants. The event ‘Visualization of Pictures’ was a Critical mind thinking competition. The participants were given a set of Pictures presented on the display and they had to Analyze and give the appropriate answers for the pictures displayed. Various events conducted during the engineers day celebration. The event ‘Quiz’ was conducted on general knowledge and technical thinking where it checks the knowledge and professional skills of a engineers and quiz event was conducted on Kahoot platform. The event ‘pick and speak’ was conducted to test the confidence level , communication and delivering the speech on spot by a participant where the participant has to pick one chit wherein the topic will be written on it later, he/she has to talk about the topic for 3 mins. September 15 is observed as Engineer’s Day to honour the hard work and efforts that engineer put in to make our daily lives easier. In India, this day is celebrated by engineering fraternity on 15th of September, every year. The date was selected because it is the birthday of legendary engineer Dr. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (M. Visvesvaraya). “Engineering is the professional art of applying science to the optimum conversion of natural resources to the benefit of man” This quote conforms the influencing role of engineers in the development of nation. Engineers are those who operate at interface between science and society. Engineers are the backbone of development & technology. Under IEEE student branch chapters – PES, PELS and CAS ‘The engineer’s day was celebrated in REVA University on 15th September and for the Guest Speakers for this event were Dr. B P Divakar, Dean R & I, REVA University, Dr. Raghu C N Director School of EEE REVA University, Dr. K. Narayanswamy Professor, Dr Devanathan M, Branch counsellor IEEE Student Branch REVA University REVA University, Dr. Ritesh Dash Associate professor. The speakers gave valuable importance of Engineer’s to the society and the role, responsible and struggle of engineers in the society what’s important to learn for a engineering students to become a successful Engineer and serve the society as an Engineer.
