Impromptu Speech Competition

Event: Impromptu Speech Competition

Toastmasters Club, School of Arts and Humanities of REVA University conducted Impromptu speech competition on 17th August 2020 through online conferencing platform, Microsoft Teams. There were around 20 participants. Students from various programmes participated in the event with great fervour and enthusiasm. It was an individual event. The topic was given to every participant on the spot. The participant was supposed to speak for 90 seconds in English, Kannada or Hindi. The criteria for judging were content and delivery of the speech. The event made the students realise the difficulty to speak for just 90 seconds without prior preparation. The importance of public speaking and tips to improve it were shared by the judges and the Faculty coordinator. Most importantly, the habit of reading everyday was highlighted.  

The faculty coordinator was Dr. Radha D R. The judges for the event were Dr. Khushboo Gokani, Dr. Sreenivasa Murthy, Dr. Maya, Prof. Lingappa and Dr. Prasanna. The winners of English speech were Ajit Peter (III Sem, MA English) - I Place, Vishnu Ramesh Babu (III Sem. Bsc) - II Place. The winners of English Speech were Vaishnavi Gurupage (III Sem Bsc), Lavanya G (III Sem PEJ) and the winner of Hindi Speech was Anu Singh (III Sem, BA JEP) - I Place. The students expressed their joy for creating a platform to hone their public speaking skills. They were very excited to participate in the upcoming prepared speeches competition.
