Report on: “INTERACTIVE SESSION ON STOCK TRADING”

Target Audience: 170 Third Semester MBA Finance Students
A session on live trading demo and a trading activity was conducted for the students of third semester MBA Finance Students. Students in the current semester are studying a course called as Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, and this programme definitely added value to their course.
The session was conducted by a team from Federal Capital markets Private Limited, Bangalore led by Mr. Bibby Abraham Thomas, Head-Operations. Federal Capital is a SEBI registered stock broking company which is in the field of stock broking for the past 15 years. The company along with providing stock broking services is also into trading of derivatives, commodities, insurance, mutual funds etc.,
Mr. Bibby Abraham Thomas, Head Operations is in this company for the past 15 years is well versed with the intricate details of stock broking. From presently about 12 branches, he aspires to have about 100 branches across India by the turn of 2020.
The session was started by Ms. Srishti of Federal with an introduction as to what is the meaning of investments and why one should make investments. She took the students through the well fitting example of Infosys and explained as to how an investment of around 14000 in 2008 would yield returns which runs in crores in the present day. She opened the floor to questions which were well taken by the team and gave a spectacular start for the session.
The session was then taken over by Mr. Bibby Abraham Thomas who introduced the students to the trading platform and discussed the various entries they could see on the screen. He also introduced the students to the various terminologies used in stock broking. The students were then asked to trade by following the price fluctuations which were being reflected in the trading platform.
Students very actively participated in the trading session and even showed a profit of around Rs. 3000 to Rs. 6000 in a span of half an hour. The top two profit makers were awarded by Federal Capital and the next ten students were awarded with goodies.
In all it was a very enriching experience for the students and was very well taken by them too. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from the students to the team and the presentation of a memento to the company as a mark of gratitude.
