School Of Allied Health Sciences in association with REVA Health Centre conducted a guest talk on Obesity – Womb to Tomb on 6th Sept ,2019 .The Guest speaker was Dr. U.S. Mahadeva Rao, Faculty of Medicine, University Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia gave talk on title, Obesity – Womb to Tomb, in which he spoke about stress as one of the factor of obesity along with other causes. He also mentioned about ill effects on our health and informed about preventive measures. He mainly spoke about importance of two main hormones of hunger which are * Ghrelin – a hormone that increases appetite and also plays a role in body weight. * Leptin – hormone made by fat cells that decreases appetite.
The session was very interesting as we got to know about the importance of Ghrelin and Leptin in our body. And also learnt some facts about obesity and preventing measures.
