Lecture Series in association with National Science Day celebration on 9/03/2018 organized by Dept. Of Biotechnology
Dept. of Biotechnology organized Lecture Series as a part of National Science Day programme on 9/3/2018. The session was attended by UG and PG students of Biotechnology and Biochemistry along with Faculty members.
The inaugural session was presided by Honorable Vice chancellor, REVA University. The chief Guest of the session was Dr. Malali Gowda, Prof. and Head, Centre for Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics, TDU. Dr. N Ramesh, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology also graced the occasion and addressed the gathering.
The resource persons for the session were Dr. Malali Gowda, Dr. Gnaneswar Yadav, Post Doctoral Fellow (DST-SERB Young Scientist), NCBS-TIFR and Dr. JagadishHiremath, Senior Scientist, ICAR-NIVEDI.
The key note address was given byDr. Gnaneswar. He gave a detailed presentation on the role of Zebra Fish as a model organism for exploring various disease conditions like anaemia, Cancer and brain related disorders.
The second session was handled by Dr. MalaliGowda where he emphasized the significance of Genomics technique with special reference to NGS platforms in exploring the biodiversity. Third session was presented by Dr. Jagdish, who enlightened the audience about Nanovaccinology and Vaccine epidemiology. Students enthusiastically participated in the session. The sessions were very productive, interactive and informative.
