The Faculty Development Program (FDP) is usually considered as a tool to learn new set of skills which in turn helps in the professional development of the faculties. This particular FDP on mentoring for wellbeing was planned and designed to facilitate faculty to enhance the skills and knowledge with respect to mentoring students. The FDP are in with the lines of 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). FDP event covered a wide range of topics within mentoring as follows,
1. Mentoring for Mental Health of Youths
2. Importance of Self-Awareness
3. Recognizing and Supporting Students in Distress
4. Motivating Students
5. Adolescents Relationships
6. Counselling Skills
7. Anger Management
All the lecture was delivered by the professionals from different Universities and Organizations. Designations of all the professionals are furnished in the brochure (Attached).
A total of 155 faculties and professionals working either in the universities or in various organisations catering mental health issues had registered for the FDP. Participants registered were from different states like Karnataka, Hyderabad, Shillong, Calcutta, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Pune, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Mumbai, Punjab, Kerala, Delhi and Haryana.
Feedback from each participant were collected after every session. Between 80% to 90% of the participants reported that the resource person and the content in the session was excellent. There was an overwhelmingly positive response, with many
faculty reporting that the FDP has helped them improve mentoring skills and now they feel confident to handle session with students to help them cope with various issues. They also, expressed that professionals were experienced and handpicked. On the other hand, few participants recommended the school (Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences) to conduct more such learning session on addressing specific programs for management of adolescents, expressive art therapies, managing toxic relationships, building self-concept in college and work place, handling delinquent behaviour and on many other current issues related to mental health and well-being.
The FDP is an important part of REVA University's commitment to excellence in enabling faculties to equip with mentoring skills. From the feedback, it is clear that the program is having a positive impact on the professional development of faculty
