The School of Legal Studies, REVA University, organised its First National Moot Court Championship on 11th and 12th October, 2019, at REVA Campus, Rukmini Knowledge Park, Kattigenahalli.
The Championship was formally declared open by the Chief Guest of the inaugural function, Hon’ble Justice (Dr.) N. Kumar, Judge (Retd.), Karnataka High Court, held at the Kuvempu Auditorium in the morning of 11th October at 9.30 am, which was Presided by Dr. S.Y. Kulkarni, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and was graced by Dr. M. Dhanamjaya, Hon’ble Registrar, REVA University.
Team Participants
Out of the 32 teams which applied from all over India, only 16 teams on “first come first” basis were allowed to participate, namely, Chanakya National Law University, Patna; University Law College, Bangalore; KIIT Law School, Bhubaneswar; Bharath Institute of Law, Chennai; UPES Law College, Dehradun; MMM’s Shankar Rao Chavan Law College, Pune; Bishop Cotton Womens Christian Law College, Bangalore; Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Pondicherry; Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad; JSS Law College, Mysore; Shastra Law School, Thanjavur; University of Mumbai Law Academy, Mumbai; Symbiosis Law School, Pune; Oxford Law College, Bangalore; Ramaiah Institute of Legal Studies, Bangalore; Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Law College, Bangalore.
Format of the Championship
16 teams competed in the preliminary rounds which started at 11.30.am in eight different Court halls in the Vivekananda Block. Eight teams qualified for the Quarter final rounds which took place in the post lunch session at 2.30 pm and went up to 6 pm in the evening after which the Semifinal line up of 4 teams was drawn for the next day. On the second day – 12th October, the Semifinal round started which was adjudged by Senior District Judges and Senior Academicians starting at 10 am. The Finals for the top two teams was held post lunch at the Kuvempu Auditorium. It was adjudged by Hon’ble Justice Krishna S Dixit, Sitting Judge of the Karnataka High Court, accompanied by Prof. (Dr.) V.B. Coutinho, Vice Chancellor, Gardencity University and Mr. C. Sashikantha, Asst. Solicitor General of India.
