Event: News Report Writing Competition

The Department of Media Studies, School of Arts and Humanities organised news report writing competition on 20th August 2020. The news report writing competition was conducted for the graduate and postgraduate students of Media Studies. The task which was assigned to the students was - “Write a news report on a haunting civic issue in your locality”.
The rules of the competition were informed to the participants. The draft had to contain at least two quotes with one real quote from an official. The students also had to maintain a word limit not exceeding 400 words. Students participated in the competition very enthusiastically. The students took part most willingly and came up with excellent news reports containing real quotes of officials. The students were able to locate and identify the civic issues in their locality and drafted the news reports.
The competition was organised by Prof. Odeal D’Souza. The judges for the event were: Prof. Manjunatha M and Prof Manoj B A. After reviewing the news reports, the winners for the competition were announced. The winners were: Gitanjali Samayamantula (3rd sem BA JEP) 1st place, Victoria Fernandez (3rd sem BA JEP) 2nd place and Navya Penmetsa (5th sem BA JEP) 3rd place. The winners were provided with e-certificates.
