Department of Biochemistry organised a lecture on Patents and Project Proposals at Dr Junjappa Seminar hall on 24th July 2019 as a part of five days FDP organised by School of Applied Sciences. The resource person was Dr UV Babu, Head of Phytochemistry department, Himalaya Drug company.
He spoke about the process carried out in generating any herbal formulation as per industry standards. He gave many examples from Ayurveda which have been a topic of patent issues between India and other countries. He emphasized on the need to patent any innovative product and also stressed on exporting the final products rather than exporting raw materials. In a nutshell, it was an expository lecture on projects and patents.
