Toastmasters Club, School of Arts and Humanities of REVA University conducted Pick and Speak competition on 28 August 2019. Students from various schools participated in the event with great fervour and enthusiasm.
The topic was given on the spot. Students came up with brilliant ideas and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the speeches as they were quite interesting and motivating as well. The judges and the faculty coordinator gave few guidelines regarding the rules, voice modulation, use of appropriate language and the role of non-verbal communication in speeches.
It was an individual event. Every participant had to pick a topic and speak on the spot for 2+1 minute. The criteria for judgingwere content, delivery and language.The student coordinators were Pavithra Bhat– ISem BA JEPand Chris Angelo– ISem BA JEP and the Faculty coordinator was Prof.Michelle Barboza. The judges for the event were Prof. Karthika Renu, Prof.Ehboklang, Prof.NavyaSreeNambiyar, Prof.Puneeth Kumar (Kannada). Twenty-Six students participated in the event and the winners were Anurag (ISem. BCA) - I Prize(English), Lakhama (III Sem BA JEP)- I Prize(Kannada).
