Report of Hands on Training of OPEN ROADS & VISSIM Software held 27th Feb to 3rd March 2020
Training for young budding professionals on industry-oriented software like OPEN ROADS and VISSIM was organized by School of Civil Engineering, REVA University on 27th Feb to 3rd March 2020. The training programme was well acknowledge as evident through good number of participants. This hands on training programme had 100 plus participants combinely. The opening day session was inaugurated by Dr.Y.Ramalinga Reddy, Director, School of Civil Engineering, REVA University. Director further motivated the enthusiastic participants to utilize this hands on training opportunity to maximum extent.
Objectives of programme
From the inception, this programme had following objectives
• To prepare participants(Mostly students) to be industrial ready
• To understand the industry and academic gap related to theoretical & practical concepts of Open roads and Vissim
• To enhance the skillset of participants
Scope of this training programme
Open Roads software enables the project delivery of road networks through construction-driven engineering and delivers all the information needed to support operational workflows. Open Roads applications help redefine best practices for design and construction deliverables supporting the exchange of information throughout the project delivery lifecycle, to all participants of the project delivery team
PTV VISSIM software is rounded off with comprehensive analysis options, creating a powerful tool for the evaluation and planning of urban and extra-urban transport infrastructure. For example, the simulation software may be used to create detailed computational results or impressive 3D animations for different scenarios. It is the perfect way to present convincing and comprehensible planned infrastructure measures to decision-makers and the public.
Resource Person
Mr. Srikanth Kasireddy, Senior Highway Design Engineer in JACOBS Company, has more than seven years of experience in various aspects of transportation engineering like traffic studies, junction design, highway design etc. He has working experience in highway design with Open roads, MX roads & Civil 3D software and expertized with AASHTO, DMRB & IRC design specifications.
Mr. Vinayaka.B, Asst Prof, School of Civil Engineering, REVA University, has vast experience related to transportation stream linked softwares. Has guided number of postgraduate scholars on subject concerned with traffic simulation using various softwares.
