For Architectural design studio for 7th semester (2019), the theme from Transparence 14.0 has been adapted. The theme of Transparence 14.0 was “RAILPORT: Future-Ready”. The project site was the Anand-Vihar Junction Station of the Indian Railways. The Design studio was methodically guided by Asst. Prof. Ujjal Halder, Asso. Prof. Rahjuteja Vemana and Asst. Prof. Anup kumar Prasad.
Students were taken to the site at Anand-Vihar under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Ujjal Halder to understand the context and the surrounding. It allowed the students to improve the project, ensuring that the building makes the best use of the resources, such as light, access, views, on the site as possible. It also guided them to anticipate any potential issues which may cause problems to the project. The student group studied the context thoroughly. Based on their study they got inspired from cultural diversity, religious unity and history of railway evolution in Delhi. As a strategy they attempted to reflect the co-existence of dual character: Old and New of Delhi through architecture.
The outcome came out well with the context reading to strategy formation and working together in a group.
