Report on Best Studio Project Award Transparence 2020

Report on Best Studio Project Award – Transparence 2020

Three of our students from 7th semester, School of Architecture, Anvitha C K, Sahithi C and Vinay J have bagged the Best Studio Project Award, from Transparence 15.0 (2020). It is the India’s biggest architectural contest organised by Ethos-India and Saint Gobain.

For Architectural design studio for 7th semester (2020), the general theme from Transparence 15.0 has been adapted. The theme of Transparence 15.0 was “Building for the well-being of people”. School of Architecture chose to work on a 5-Star hotel, proposed at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi as a design studio. The Design studio was methodically guided by Asst. Prof. Ujjal Halder, Asso. Neeraja Jayan, Asst. Prof. Shafia Ahmed and Asst. Prof. Anup kumar Prasad.

Students taken the challenge with enthusiasm. Even though, there were lots of restrains due to pandemic, such as they were not able to do physical case study of site, working in group without physically meeting each other and getting guidance from teachers through computer screen, they have achieved the goal and succeeded in bagging the precious award.

The student group studied the context thoroughly. Based on their study they got inspired from welcoming nature of the metropolitan city Delhi. As the city open and give opportunity to live and survive to anyone and everyone from different parts of India. As a strategy they attempted to reflect the concept of Welcoming through light and shadow by breaking and twisting the building form. A very fine example of Modern Architecture as per the context.

The outcome came out well with the context reading to strategy formation and working together in a group.
