Report on Experiential learning session at Auro Mirra International School

School of Architecture, REVA University conducted an experiential learning session on School design as a part of Architectural Design course for 4th semester students at Auro Mirra International School, Bangalore on 26th March 2021. The campus is the tangible manifestation of the philosophy of integral education, constructed to gain the blessings of nature. Students were enthralled to see the school building nestled within a green campus with 150-year-old trees that create an oasis in the middle of the city.
The school has a creative mix of open learning spaces and closed class rooms and other facilities. Students were highly inspired to see the unique learning spaces such as My-space, creatively designed and playful classrooms as well as multifunctional flexible spaces within the school. Students carried out a detailed case study including sketching, measure drawing and material exploration at the school campus.
Further, they also got an opportunity to visit the Aurobindo Bhavan which is housed in a heritage building on the campus itself. The Aurobindo Bhavan, a two-storeyed palace with striking domes, canopies, parapets, large windows and entrance gates with piers. The palace was constructed in 1932 by the Royal family of Nepal.
The students also attended an interactive session with the School Director Ms. Harvinder Kaur and Principal, Ms. Uma Mohan. They discussed the philosophy and educational principles which have helped shape the school campus.
