The Objective of the expert lecture was to introduce campus planning principles and design techniques/tips to the students as part of Architectural Design V curriculum. Prof. Vidya Srikanth has explained the campus planning with case study examples to explain various parameters to be considered in the masterplan. 

She began with strategy and planning for large campus planning, a critical first step in campus planning. She elaborated on circulation – Vehicular and Pedestrian pathways, principles of organic order, principles of participation, placement, features of campus – Built/unbuilt spaces, services, design considerations. She also discussed various principles quoting the book ‘Pattern language’ like interlinking greens, small public squares, building thoroughfare, positive outdoor spaces, connected buildings, stair seats, access to water, etc., with case study of large campuses. 

It was an informative and interactive session for the students. After the lecture she interacted with students to make them understand the details with respect to the sites given for their design problem. The students actively participated, and the lecture gave them a clear insight to proceed with their master planning activity. 

Outcomes of the Guest Lecture:
The VI Sem B.Arch students were able to understand the design principles and various aspects of the campus planning. This lecture will help students comprehend and apply the principles in master planning of the education campus.
