Report on Expert Lecture on Pisa Group of Monuments

OBJECTIVE: 
As part of History of Architecture -II, evolution of various architectural styles between early Christian to Renaissance and a glimpse of Baroque and Roccoco were lectured to the students. To understand the architectural features in detail the examples were elaborated. One such remarkable example for Romanesque architecture in the region of Italy is Pisa Group of Monuments, Italy. Pisa group is an iconic monument of Italian Romanesque Architecture and its campanile gained all the fame and attraction due of its inclination and hence called as lean tower of Pisa. This tower underwent several restoration processes on trial and error basis to maintain its stability. It is important to portray this monument through special lecture. 

As per REVA university values, the current COVID-19 situation should not deny any good opportunity involved in enhancement of student’s knowledge. Hence conducted online expert lecture. 
Ar. Shubhi Sonal is an Architect, planner and academician of our RUSOA, an experienced history of Architecture teacher, she is a heritage lover, who travels to experience the heritage-built environment. She presented about the restoration processes involved in maintaining the stability of the Pisa Campanile, universally known as Leaning Tower of Pisa. Also described elaborately about the architectural style and the decorative elements of the monument, planning aspects and construction details of the Pisa Complex. 

Outcomes of the Guest Lecture:
The II Sem B.Arch. students were able to recognize the significance, architectural characteristics of Italian Romanesque Architecture with the illustration on PISA COMPLEX. They were able to understand the reason behind inclination and the restoration process and significance to carry out such process to save the heritage. This lecture will certainly boost their knowledge and vision appropriate to the subject. We would like to thank the management and team at REVA University for their support and constant encouragement towards our endeavours.
