Report on Guest Lecture - CAA and NPR

The Department of Media Studies, School of Arts and Humanities, organized a guest lecture on the topic “The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and National Population Register (NPR)” on 24th January 2020. The guest lecture was attended by the students pursuing BA and MA courses.

Advocate Shyam Sunder, a successful and popular advocate practising in the High Court of Karnataka was the resource person. The topic chosen for lecture was apt as it is currently the most debated topic across the country. The purpose of conducting the lecture was to help students understand the subject better and also develop a right perspective about the act.

Advocate Shyam Sunder emphasized on why there were so many protests in the country. He also explained the reasons for the state of Assam in particular, protesting against the act and elaborated in detail the difference between CAA and NPR. He inspired and motivated the students with his lecture and further encouraged the students to ask questions on the same topic.
