A guest lecture by Prof. Rajesh Malik on Scope of Comprehensive Architectural services and stages of payment, was arranged for 7th SEM students on 25th September 2020, through MS Teams.
Architecture is still finding its roots in India as a profession. Even though India is known for its magnificent monumental architecture of its temple, palaces and cities; its access to various sections of society is still limited and confined to large cities. Slowly due to greater exposure and visibility, awareness is percolating to smaller cities and towns. Organizations like council of Architecture and the earlier Indian Institute of Architects have been guiding in establishing the profession on sound lines. Nonetheless, a professional, still needs a well-formulated source to guide him in his day-to day practice, exposing him/her to multitudinal issues that converge in his practice.
Prof. Rajesh Malik provided an overview of the filed ranging from Architect’s duties and responsibilities to related areas, like valuation and architect’s role with industry, which is opening up new opportunities. He also gave a detailed overview about the scope and schedule of comprehensive architectural services including sketch stage, preliminary stage, working drawing stage, construction stage and supervision stage. He further explained the different stages and schedule of payment from client towards architectural services through examples.
Learning outcome
The students were able to relate to current trends and experiences in the field associated with architectural services and stages of payment.
