Report on Industrial visit to BioZeen Pvt Ltd

Department of Biotechnology had organised an industrial visit to BioZeen Pvt Ltd, Hennur - Bagalur Road, Bengaluru on 30.09.2019 for which 47 students of M.Sc. Biotechology III Sem, 2019. The students were accompanied by Dr. V. Veena and visit started towards the industry from REVA University at 9:00 am. The visit commenced at 10:00 am in BioZeen after the formalities.
Dr. Karthik, Dr. Anusree and Dr. Julia addressed the students regarding the brief activities happening in the BioZeen from 10:00 to 10:30 pm. After 10:45 am, students were divided into four groups to see the manufacturing of proteins and products were shown in detail. Further, the steps involved bioprocess engineering such as culturing of animal cells, product scale up, medium preparation, medium sterilisation and different types of bioreactors, functioning of bioreactor and downstream processing units were showed in details. Furthermore the students were taken into the R&D laboratories where students were allowed to interact with chief scientist incharge. During the interaction, students were thought about certain advanced product purification techniques like tangential flow filtration, anionic chromatography and dialysis of the protein products. Further, students were shown the product sterilisation, packaging and storing of products.
The team appreciated the participation and cleared the certain doubts from the students end. BioZeen also appreciated the initiative taken up by REVA University for introducing such visits for the young minds and nurturing their careers. Hence, the industrial visit to BioZeen enriched knowledge of both students and faculty members to increase process about Fermentation, fermenter and Bioprocess Engineering process.
