The School of Applied Sciences, Dept. of Biotechnology had organized an expert lecture on “Science and Technology - Role in Nation Building” on 31st July 2019 between 10.30 am to 11.30 am in A.P.J Abdul Kalam Hall, Science Block. The speaker for the day was Dr. B. E. Rangaswamy.
Dr. B.E. Rangaswamy completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D from Bangalore University. He is currently working as Dean, Research & Development and Professor & Head at Department of Biotechnology, Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology, Davangere. He has obtained higher level Training in Bacteriology and Air sampling techniques from Environmental Diagnostic Laboratory, Florida, USA in 2008 and attended Basic Course in Aerobiology organized by European Aerobiological Association jointly with International Aerobiology Association (IAA) at Roskilde University Holbaek, Denmark during July 2011.
Around 200 undergraduate students from Biotechnology department had attended the expert lecture. The lecture basically included about the innovations achieved by Indian scientists and engineers in the field of science and technology and their contribution to the self-sustenance of our country. The lecture included the recent past innovations and their progress especially in medical field and agriculture sectors which are major areas in India. He also motivated students the importance of getting skilled in the science and technology field and also highlighting on their career choice in the field of science.
