The Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Sciences, REVA University has organised a Skill Development Program for first semester MSc. Biotechnology program students at Stellixir Biotech Pvt Ltd., Peenya, Bangalore, from May 3rd to May 7th, 2022.
Stellixir Biotech has a world class research facility which includes animal cell culture lab. Stellixir has a good Research and development lab that works on development of biomaterials for wound healing, and screening facility for identification of anticancer compounds. It also has facility for synthesis of nano particles and for extraction of compounds from medicinal plants.
Nine students have opted for Skill development program at Stellixir Biotech. Students got hands on training on animal cell culture techniques. Students got hands on training on subculturing of cell lines, and cell toxicity test- MTT assay. Students also got trained on the the experiments done for the identification of anticancer compounds using cell lines. Stellixir also provided them hands on training on flow cytometry to analyze the DNA quantity of cells. Detailed information about the experiments taught in the SDP training module is listed in the next page table.
Overall, students got a very good hands on training session on cell lines culture, media preparation, various tests done cell lines.
