The School of C&IT had organized a "Talk on Awareness of Higher Education & Competitive Exams" on 18th September 2019 at basement SEMINAR Hall -1 at Swami Vivekananda Block for B.Tech. 5th Semester & 7th Semester C&IT students. Mr. Hemanth D, resource person graduated from R V College of Engineering, Bengaluru. Currently he is working as Competitive Exams Trainer at Bengaluru. Talk focused on the following key points: 1. Various job opportunities after graduation (B.Tech.) 2. Need for being an employer rather than employee i.e. being an entrepreneur. 3. Higher studies in engineering domain i.e. M.Tech, M.S, M.B.A. 4. Higher studies off the domain i.e. Masters in Pure science, Arts subjects etc. 5. Syllabus and exam pattern for various government exams 6. Insights into IAS exam and the traits needed to be developed.
Following are the outcomes achieved with this talk:
1. Students gained insights into various non engineering job opportunities that are available in the market and the means to seek those jobs. Speaker specifically focused on the government jobs which included following aspects: Exams conducted by UPSC, SSC, KPSC etc., Banking and Insurance jobs conducted by IBPS., Specific government bodies jobs like RBI, SEBI etc.
2. There was discussion on off the domain higher studies opportunities within the country as well as abroad. It broadly included pure science subjects like Mathematics, Physics etc. and Arts subjects like Economics, Social Science etc. example in Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
3. Students interacted with resource person Mr. Hemanth D and asked him for important tips to get into various government jobs and competitive exams.
4. The session provided a great exposure to the students as they will now have more insights on engineering as well as non engineering jobs.
