The School of Civil Engineering REVA University organized a Technical Talk on the occasion of “Environmental Day” on title “GIS and Its Applications in Environmental Engineering” for students and faculty on 5th June, 2020 at 11am to 12 pm by Dr. M A Nagesh, Professor, School of Civil Engineering, REVA University through MS Team. Organised under Parisara Club.
The talk included
• Utility companies and their engineers use GIS data to plot, plan and predict usage rates at any given time.
• Management of solid waste is a thankless task and without it, we wouldn't have the cleanliness that we enjoy. They use GIS for such things as how to transport the waste. This is done, amongst other reasons, to minimize the cost and maximizing the efficiency and safety
• Even though we are recycling more material, there is still much that must go to landfill because it cannot be recycled. Planners consider a number of factors when siting facilities and GIS is used to plan effective strategies
• Mass transit is an on-going issue and one of the most effective ways in which we utilize GIS.
• Relief and emergency agencies use GIS to get aid to people living in affected areas
The talk was attended by all our civil school 4th and 6th semester students and faculty of school of civil engineering in MS Team. The talk was very useful of application of GIS in Environmental Engineering.
We would like to thank the speaker, Dr. M A Nagesh, Professor, School of Civil Engineering,
We would like to thank our beloved director Dr. Y. Ramalinga Reddy sir for insisting us to organize the talk.
We also thank our Team head Dr. Harinath S for his support to organize the talk
