Report on the International Youth Day Celebration 2019

International Youth day is observed on 12th of August, every year with a theme of “transforming education”. 12th August was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999 and serves as an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change, and an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth. In this regard, the department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Sciences observed International Youth Day on 13th August 2019. On this occasion, the department organized two events - “click and capture” a photography and essay writing competition. The theme for the events was “green campus-green world”. The objective behind conducting these events was to bring awareness and information regarding the ill effects of global warming and how humans can tackle this problem through creating a green environment. There was an active and enthusiastic participation from UG and PG students of biotechnology department. The students demonstrated the contribution of REVA University campus towards sustainable and green environment through photography event, while the essay writing competition was focused on topic “Global Warming- A threat to sustainable environment”. The students were judged by the distinct faculty members and were awarded with different prizes.
