Report on the World Hepatitis Day, 29th July 2019

The Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied sciences observed the World Hepatitis day on 29th of July, to spread the awareness on the cause and symptoms of Hepatitis. Liver is the largest organ in our body. It helps our body to digest food, store energy, and remove poisons. Toxins, certain drugs, heavy alcohol use, bacterial and viral infections can all contribute to hepatitis. Hepatitis is the inflammation in liver that can lead to liver failure and death. WHO observes 28th July of every year as World Hepatitis day globally to create an awareness about the disease. In order to spread the awareness on hepatitis, its causes and preventive methods, basically the impact of environment on hepatitis incidence, the Ecoclub, Department of Biotechnology organised flash mob and competitions for students at REVA University on 29th July, 2019 on the World Hepatitis Day.
The flashmob addressing the details of hepatitis was performed on 29th July 2019 at 12:30 pm near the Temple of learning circle, on the theme of “Role of environment in hepatitis and its control”. Students conveyed the message through dance with the help of pluck cards. Two events were conducted to understand the role of environment and therapeutic control of hepatitis - Make a molecule and e-posters on cause and therapeutic measures on hepatitis. Undergraduate students from Biotechnology actively participated in the events.
