Report on Virtual Faculty Development Programme Software Applications in Civil Engineering held 24th to 26th June, 2020
Training for young budding professionals on industry-oriented software like Sketch –Up, 3-D Max and V Ray, SAFE and MATLAB was organized by School of Civil Engineering, REVA University on 24th to 26th June, 2020. The training programme was well acknowledged as evident through good number of participants. Faculty Development Programme Software Applications in Civil Engineering had 160 plus participants combinely.
Objectives of programme
From the inception, this programme had following objectives
• Gain and understanding of Google Sketch Up and introduce you to modeling terminology and concepts.
• Learn how to begin a new project in Go ogle Sketch Up and introduce you to tools and concepts necessary to design and draw.
• The objective of AutoCAD training during the AutoCAD Essentials course is to enable
• Faculty to create a basic 2D & 3D drawing in the AutoCAD software
• To create and modify simple and complex 3D solids and surfaces
• SAFE used for modeling, analysis and design of foundations.
• Understand the capabilities of the MATLAB tool for engineering applications.
Scope of this training programme
• Demonstrate an understanding of how Sketch Up can import and export files to and from other applications, such as Google Earth and AutoCAD.
• Create architectural shapes and objects using the three-dimensional tools provided by the programme to create 2D/3D project model.
• To Navigate throughout AutoCAD using major navigating tools.
• Demonstrate the modeling, analysis and design of foundations using SA FE.
• Apply the MATLAB tool for solving civil engineering problems like preconditions, trends related to the earth , the ocean, the atmosphere and analyzing the seismic activity of buildings, bridges etc.
