Strengthening Indo-German Academic Ties:

A Discussion with Prof. Ar. Vasanth Bhat

On February 11, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the School of Architecture at REVA University had the privilege of hosting an insightful discussion with Prof. Ar. Vasanth Bhat.

With an illustrious career spanning over four decades, Prof. Bhat has played a crucial role in architectural academia and was conferred an award for excellence in Architectural education by the Indian Institute of Architects at the recently concluded, Latitude 2025, fostering collaborations between Indian and German institutions.

Retired as Principal/ Dean of Acharya School of Architecture & later RNS School of Architecture after a successful tenure of 16 years and was also Invited as panelist for discussion entitled “A Dialogue between Vedic and Modern Sciences” on Sept 21-22, 2019 organized by IIT(BHU) in collaboration with Vijnana Bharti and Vedic Kendra at Banaras Hindu University on the occasion of centennial celebrations of BHU – Varanasi Currently serving as the Chief Mentor of Design Hub India, Bangalore, he has been instrumental in bridging industry and academia to enhance students' employability and skill sets.

Exploring Indo-German Academic Collaborations

The session primarily focused on the collaboration between the School of Architecture, REVA University, and Jade University, Germany. Prof. Bhat, who holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Planning from the University of Stuttgart, emphasized the importance of international academic partnerships in enriching architectural education. His extensive experience with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and the Council of Architecture (CoA), New Delhi, has provided him with a deep understanding of the evolving educational landscape.

Introducing Innovative Learning: Jio Deric Dome & BIM Gaming Sessions

A key highlight of the discussion was the introduction of BIM (Building Information Modeling) gaming sessions for students. Prof. Bhat elaborated on how these innovative methodologies can revolutionize the way students understand architectural design, planning, and execution.

BIM Gaming Sessions: A simulation-based approach that enhances students' decision-making skills in real-world architectural scenarios.

These sessions aim to provide students with practical exposure, preparing them for future challenges in the field of architecture, civil engineering.

Taking the Collaboration Forward: MOU Signing Ceremony

Following the enriching discussion, at 3:30 PM on February 11, 2025, the much-anticipated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially signed between REVA University and Design Hub. This marks a significant step in fostering academic exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and skill-enhancing workshops for students and faculty.

This collaboration is set to open new avenues for students by providing international exposure, interdisciplinary learning, and access to cutting-edge architectural tools and technologies. With Prof. Bhat’s mentorship and vision, students at REVA University can look forward to a dynamic, industry-relevant education that aligns with global standards.
