About the Event/Activity: Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Design, REVA University has organized a Market Visit to Bamboo Bazaar, Shivaji Nagar & Cane Market, Malleshwaram as part of Building Materials – I (BM-I) curriculum.  
Building Materials- I curriculum deals with traditional building material where Bamboo and Cane are introduced in Unit – 2. It is important to understand the products available and its fabrication through market interaction. The visit served the purpose of the visit is to understand various products of Bamboo and cane available in market, making of furniture and other products out of these materials.
 
Students interacted with the shop keepers and workers involved in production of furniture and other bamboo and cane products. They discussed about market price, origin of the species, processing for making the product and product making was spectated.  
Outcome of the Visit: The students were exposed to market available product and interaction with workers and shopkeepers. They were able to understand all the making process of the products and material character experientially. They were able to understand and appreciate the details of the materials, various infestations, chemical treatment, market value and making of products. Students will be able to present and explain their observation as an assignment for the class.
