The School of EEE had organized a seminar on “Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS)” for 8th Semester FACTS soft core subject offered students.
Dr. Rajashekhar P Mandi, Director, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, REVA University was the resource person for the Seminar.
Seminar focused on the following key points:
1. Power system network and major generation and transmission systems.
2. Explanation about transmission systems including HVAC and HVDC.
3. Importance of real power (P), reactive power (Q) and power quality.
4. Requirements and applications of FACTS equipments in power system network.
5. An insight into FACTS controllers.
Following are the outcomes achieved with this technical Seminar:
1. Students gained knowledge about power system transmission.
2. Students had a good interaction with the presenter.
3. With this session students were able to analyze the concepts practically and understand the theory.
4. The session was motivational and giving information for their course and further career opportunities.
